Mungola is the final boss of Gothica, fought in Ivor Tower Castle.

Boss Battle Strategy[]

At first, the player is fighting the giant puppets Old Nick and Mephista. Once they are each killed twice, the bookcase explodes to reveal Mungola. Mungola is stationary and has no melee attacks, but can cast alchemy including Fireball and Corrosion. The puppets, meanwhile, will continue to respawn, attacking the player as they move about. Mephista can heal Mungola, but not very much.

The puppets only respawn when both are killed, so it is advised to fight Mungola with only one puppet alive, preferably Old Nick, who cannot heal Mungola.

The fight is not very difficult, just long due to Mungola's high HP. It is more vulnerable to alchemy than physical attacks, and the presence of the puppets may make getting close difficult, anyway.

Player improvement[]

The player gets 8,000 experience for the fight, and while Mungola gives no money itself, the King gives them 10,000 gold shortly after the fight.

The fight with Mungola is the best grinding spot in the game. Old Nick and Mephista will respawn endlessly, and each gives 1,000 experience and 250 gold when killed, substantially more than any other enemy outside of bosses. If the player is able to defeat them simply, they may wish to consider drawing out the fight, fighting Old Nick and Mephista over and over to level up and gather money. Weakening Mungola first is advised, so when the player tires of the battle and/or runs out of healing, they can end the fight quickly. Note though that Old Nick and Mephista's HP increases every time they are killed, so this eventually becomes impractical.

When Mungola is defeated, some ingredient merchants in Gothica will change their stock and prices. Especially the Ebon Keep Regrowth merchant will sell more ingredients and lower her prices significantly.

Trivia[]

Mungola Boss Room Reenter

Re-entering Mungola's room

  • If the player uses cheats to re-enter Mungola's room after defeating it, the room will be in the state it was before the fight, namely the puppets are here but cannot be attacked, and the King will be watching the show. However, the hole left by Camellia's evil twin still remains there.
  • Mungola can be seen briefly in the freak show of the Ivor Tower Alley after the dog starts to sprint down the alley to win the pig race. It is unknown how he moved to Ivor Tower Castle later for the battle.
