Mud Peppers are an alchemy ingredient, used in the Levitate formula. Acquiring them to use Levitate is a major plot point in Prehistoria.
Formulas[]
Obtaining Mud Peppers[]
The first Mud Pepper is acquired from Blimp after defeating Salabog, allowing Levitate to be used to enter the Volcano. If the player returns to Blimp when they lack a Mud Pepper, he will give them another one.
Three more can be found inside the Volcano, two inside containers and one for defeating the Viper Commander at the end of the Western entrance of the Volcano core. This process can be repeated infinitely before entering the core to face Magmar, allowing the player to farm Mud Peppers and exceed 99 of them, since they are received as a reward.
In Antiqua, they are available for purchase from Blimp, 5 for 300 Jewels. He is the only alchemist to sell them. There is little need to buy Mud Peppers in bulk, however, as Levitate is only used two more times after leaving Prehistoria. Buying five will last the player the rest of the game.
Trivia[]
Meteorites and Mud Peppers are the only two Alchemy ingredients that can reach the maximum amount of 255 (beyond this amount they roll back to 0). Mud Peppers can be obtained by killing the Viper Commander in the Volcano, before having defeated Magmar (Prehistoria).
Mud Pepper, Atlas Amulet, Mushroom, Gunpowder, Meteorite and Dry Ice are 6 ingredients out of a total 22 that are only used for 1 specific formula. This fact usually makes them very expensive or difficult to come by.
