The Desert of Doom is a region in Antiqua. It is a massive desert stretching from Nobilia to the Cliff, most of the eastern side of the continent. It takes a long time to cross the desert on foot; skeleton pirates offer passage for an Amulet of Annihilation.

Story[]

The Hero travelled through the desert to reach Nobilia. Along the way he could find an alchemist in an Oasis, who taught him the Sting formula.

Mechanics[]

When trekking through the Desert of Doom, the player and the dog will take 5 damage every 11 seconds. This damage is pure damage and can only be negated if the player is riding with the Skeletal Boatman or when under the spell/item animation of Alchemy/Consumables. Using Aura, Shield or any defensive Alchemy (like Barrier or Reflect) will not protect the player. Entering an oasis and standing near the north-west corner of the water pool will fully heal the player and the dog, but desert damage will persist. Enemies will not be able to attack you when standing in an oasis. There are a total of 18 oasises of which 2, strangely enough, are the Sting alchemist's location.

hidden Secrets[]

In the north end of the desert near Nobilia, there is a spot where the player will be blown in a circle. The boy and dog will take 1 extra damage here, every 1,5 seconds. This stacks with the standard desert damage, resulting in 1,12 DPS or 67 damage/min. Standing here and waiting 3 minutes and 20 seconds (224 damage total) will cause (only) the player to drop down to a hidden area. Every 55 seconds, the player will say something.

First interval (55s): "Whoa! I'm getting dizzy!".

Second interval (110s): "Spin... Spin... Spin... Weeeeee".

Third interval (165s): "Gonna... Gonna... Hurl!".

Then 35 seconds later (200s), the player will be sucked inside, stating: "Hey! Where am I?". The player can then walk a bit to the right and automatically be given Rice and Spice until they have 99, to then be pushed back up onto the ground. If the player had 99 of both, they will not gain any goods nor receive the message.

If the player sells these trade goods to the appraiser, they will earn 1188 Jewels. This may be a decent moneymaker if the player has enough heals to sustain themselves.

In an area in the southern end of the desert is a hidden "wormhole" that will warp the player to the northern end, which can be seen here.
